Show Stewards raising money for Motor Neurone Disease

Vicki , Sarah & family: 300k steps in 30 days

Vicki, Sarah and their mother Leslie have been long serving stewards for the Show in Blackpool, with Leslie’s service extending back to its Doncaster days. Leslie was diagnosed with MND last year. They are asking for your support in helping them raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

“Members of my family and I are doing 300k in 30 days for the Motor Neurone Disease Association because our Mum was diagnosed with MND 12 months ago.

“Our Mum worked as a carer in a nursing home for quite a few years and loved looking after the old people, with stories every day on the things the residents used to say and do. Then 18 months ago she started losing her grip in her left hand, and started having breathing difficulties when she was just doing the simplest of things like walking to the shop. She went to the doctors and was referred to Sheffield for tests. On 20th December 2019 the results were in… MND, no cure !!!!!!!  There are no words to describe that day.

“As the months have gone on my Mum has deteriorated and is now walking with a frame in the house, or in a wheelchair when we take her out. She can’t lie down to sleep unless she has a machine to help her breathe properly, as MND has affected her diaphragm badly. But the good thing is she is still in good spirits and we will make sure it stays like that until the end.

“Our aim is to raise money to find a cure for this cruel disease, so please please help us find one. If you would like to donate to the fund, please click the link below and you will be directed to the Just Giving Page”.
