About The Show

About the show

Welcome from the Show Chairman, David Trippett

The British Homing World Show of the Year is a two-day event held every January at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, attracting around 15,000 visitors. It is the highlight of the year for pigeon fanciers, who come from all over the world to show their birds as part of a historic community celebration.

Each year we have over 100 trade stands, charity pigeon auctions, raffles for new lofts and a holiday in Malta, as well as the showing and judging of around 2,000 of the top homing pigeons in the UK.

Our Show in 2023 was unfortunately the victim of Avian Influenza; we were therefore unable to accept entries for the show, and had to make alternative arrangements for any trade stand or auction which involved pigeons. The challenges this presented were difficult to overcome, however we still had a show, and the numbers who attended were higher than the previous year, which in turn was affected by the aftermath of Covid. It is very pleasing to know that the popularity of the show has not diminished, despite recent setbacks outside of our control.

We are very grateful to all who supported us in this venture, whether they be sponsors, those donating raffle prizes or pigeons for our auction, competitors, trade stand holders or just attended the show. It rewarded the immense amount of work invested by the committee and a dedicated RPRA staff, as well as all of those who give their time freely to make the show the event it is.

The committee look forward to 2024 hopefully under more normal conditions with full service resumed, and we hope to see you all there.

Yours in the sport
